Dear Parishioners and Friends,
Greetings to you all!
Third Sunday of Easter Year B
Dear friends in Christ Jesus, we continue in the joy of Jesus’ resurrection. The resurrection of Jesus continues to instil in us hope, joy and peace in our lives. The reading from the Acts of the Apostles, once again reminds us that the plan of God cannot be defeated. When Jesus was put to death, the enemies of Jesus thought that they have won the fight against Jesus’ life. But the witnesses of the Apostles remind us that Jesus is not defeated but he is only glorified again.
In the early days of the Church in Jerusalem, the topic of Jesus’ resurrection was a constant one among those who put Jesus to death, because they constantly denied the resurrection of Jesus Christ. But the witnesses of the Apostles to the resurrection of Jesus Christ were entirely contrary to that of his enemies. The Apostle Peter courageously proclaims in the street of Jerusalem, saying, “It was you who accused the Holy One, the Just One, you who demanded the reprieve of a murderer while you killed the prince of life. God, however, raised him from the dead, and to that fact we are the witnesses.” (Acts 3:13-15).
It was not just the courageous proclamation of the Apostles: served as a witness to Jesus’ resurrection, but also the miracle of curing the crippled man, in the name of Jesus by the Apostle Peter (Acts 3:1-10) was a wonderful opportunity for the people to witness to the name of Jesus Christ. As a result, there were lots of people, who came to believe in Jesus Christ (Acts 4:4). The growth of the infant Church in Jerusalem and in Gentile lands is sufficient proof to show how the Apostles and the others believed in the Resurrection of Jesus Christ.
As people of resurrection, let us continue to invite and lead people towards Christ. The experience of Jesus’ resurrection brought forth lots of transformation: both in the lives of the Apostles and in the Jewish community. We shall also become an agent of God’s love and compassion to others and thus lead many more faithful towards God.
