Friday 7 August 2020
Greetings to you all from the Basilica of St. Patrick.
“Take heart, it is I; do not be afraid.” Says Jesus.
The liturgy of the Word for the 19th Sunday in Ordinary Time gives us encouragement and assurance that we are not alone in any battles we face in our lives.
We are all aware that life is not always smooth, and we don’t encounter joy at all times of our lives, there are moments, where we are tossed by storms of fear. We are afraid of people. We are afraid of the future. We are afraid of the past. We are afraid of life. We are afraid of death. We are also alarmed by the rapid spread of COVID-19. So, in the midst of all these storms of life, there is nothing but uncertainty, but our living God will take care of us and his presence will be always with us. This is clearly captured in all the readings of today.
When the disciples experienced the storms in the sea they immediately went to Jesus and pleaded with him to rescue them from their current situation in life.
Let us also continue to come to Jesus and plead with him through our persevering prayer life; that soon some permanent remedies will be available for everyone in the world.
Let us please keep everyone in our prayers who go through painful situations in life. Particularly let us remember all the people in Victoria, that soon they will be able to contain the COVID-19 virus.
Due to COVID-19, we are not printing the bulletin, but in order to help the faithful to participate in singing during the mass, we will post on our website the PDF of the hymns that will be used for that weekend. To download the hymn sheets please follow this link.
Please keep our Primary School children who will receive First Holy Communion this weekend. As they receive the Lord for the very first time in their lives, may it bring them closer to God and experience God’s love in their lives.
Please be assured of my prayers.
Thank you and God bless!
